I'm Glad I Don't Sleep In A Toaster
After a week of living with me; this is my birthday card from my roommate. Obviously, she's gotten to know a new side of me.
I admit, she chose the perfect card.
This is exactly how I felt this morning after my crazy rockin' stranger party. It was crazy rockin'.
I even slaved away and made 300 mini cupcakes
And had a 5$ Wal-Mart Strobe Light. I tell ya, it was rockin'.
Mostly though, I made some friends.
The life of a college student.
I think I'm going to be waking up like Miss Betty-Sue up there as long as school is in session. So...4 more years. I can get inadequate sleep till then. Sure.

Thrifty Thursday
Ta-Duh!!!
My fantastic outfit I wore to school today.
I must admit though, it's not exceptionally thrifty. I got it at a thrift store, but...it was 20$.
I COULDN'T RESIST. I LOVE IT.
Plus, it's my birthday tomorrow and, I say, I get to wear whatever I want this thrifty-thursday-before-my-birthday day. Yup yup.
These shoes are the awesome shoes I'm wearing. Besides the unmatching socks, fat looking ankles, old-manish quality; my shoes only have one downside.
They smell like the zoo.
No joke. Not like poo. Just the zoo. I didn't notice when I bought them, but when I wore them the next day I couldn't figure out why 'zoo' was following me. And when I went running, ZOO. It was everywhere. It wasn't bad. Or good. Just Zoo.
Then I went to stats and some boy I was sitting by said "Why does it smell like the zoo in here?"
Oh no, oh no. It must be me. I ran over to him and put my shoe on his desk and secretly described the odd odor of zoo that had been following me around. Ya, zoo.
I think it's because the shoes are so incredibly leather. And the leather is SOOOOOOO strong, it's smells 'zoo'. Who knows?
I tried taking these suckers to Europe to see if walking long distances would tame the zoo smell.
It sorta did.
Sorta.
But they're the best shoes I've got for college for walking purposes.....
Anywho. I have no car. No money. No boys. No family. Only canned food. No time to blog. Not many friends. Just zoo.
But it's alright. I'm getting along well. I mean, it's mostly my fault for not meeting lots of new people, as I have been extremely studious. And sleepy.
BUT. I have an EXCELLENT idea! I have no friends, right? And it's my birthday tomorrow right?
So....I'm sticking sticky notes. Everywhere. That look like this:
I know: Brilliant.
Perfect way to make friends. I wrote this on........hundreds, of sticky notes. And my plan today is to stick them. Everywhere.
I'm really hoping this works out because I've never had a birthday party with a bunch of people I don't know and no family and no balloons and games and a big cake and an actual house and people who adore me and make me feel like a million bucks.
Perhaps, it will be a fiasco.
But, I won't know unless I try.
Wish me luck.

Shelby's Birthday Affirmation (18)
Day 18: Your Favorite Birthday
This prompt is WAY too difficult.
Every birthday is my favorite birthday.
I don't think I haven't had a birthday I haven't enjoyed.
I suppose if I REALLY thought about it, I would say my 5th grade birthday party at the Frampton's Cabin up in Wildwood. Now THAT was a crazy fun night.
It just had a certain atmosphere of FUN. There's no other description.
When I tell people how much I completely love and adore my birthdays; they are usually slightly surprised at my gusto and may even look disapprovingly at my enthusiasm and zeal. Some don't believe me. "Birthdays are just like any other day right? I mean, you don't even FEEL different." WRONG. NEGATIVE. NO.
Birthdays are glorious.
So.... are you ready?
ARE YOU EXCITED?!
I am going to share my birthday secret with you.
This is why my birthdays are so fantastically wonderfully too marvelous for words. EVERY year.
Jessica's Daily Affirmation
(Note: The deleted scene is pretty great too if you want to watch that...)
That's the secret folks.
If I did that every day and not ONLY on my birthdays, I would be the happiest woman alive!
Maybe I should try it...

A Day and a Birthday! (09)
Day 09: A moment
A Birthday:
Dearest Sister,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yesterday...)
I love you so much.
You are an example to me :)
You are beautiful and kind to everyone and a hard-worker and patient and dedicated to everything you love. Thats just a couple things.
I hope you had the greatest day EVER!
Ya! We are STRONG. Heartache, to heartache we stand.
We are so attractive! Must be sisters.
And...I hope you wear that shower cap I gave you for Christmas.
We're on a horse. Hee-yaw!
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Love,
Your Sis,
Shelby
A Day:
I had a moment today.
It was in chamber.
Watch this:
Johannes Brahms "Brauner Bursche furt zum tanze"
Beautiful piece, yes?
Well I am really excited to sing it and his "Komnit dir manchmal" in Carnegie Hall in...1 MONTH! WOOOOO!
But that is besides the point.
My real moment today was Ms. J giving us "inspiration" for this song.
We had sung it a couple times and I guess we just didn't have the right...zest. Or enthusiasm, perhaps?
So Ms. J stands up at the piano bench and says we should sing it as if we were saying "COME ON AND LOVE ME, BABY!" (a slight shimmy included). No joke. She yelled those words EXACTLY. I even wrote them down they were so funny. It was so...boisterous: I think the whole school might have heard...
It was priceless.
Not to mention engraved into my brain for time and eternity.
The End.
P.S. Searching for that video was equally hilarious just imagining Ms. J dancing around and singing the piece with HER expression and their crazy, silky, bright, gypsy dresses! Oh, the joy.

A Holly Jolly...Birthday(s)!
Yes. I did just name this post A Holly Jolly Birthday(s). And no. It doesn't make any sense.
But here's why:
It's Christmas.
And there are two (meaning plural and not singular) birthdays I wish to tribute today(well, yesterday; since their birthday is December 12)!
I am on a roll with bad writing here.
Firstly: My dear friend Christian Sagers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! He is one of the best boys I have ever met. Well..he's almost a man now! 18 years old! (sorry for the outdated picture). I hope he had a great birthday because he deserves it.
Secondly: (drumroll.......)
Chairman Of The Board
Ol' Blue Eyes
The Voice
Swoonatra?
You guessed it:
Frank.
Frank Sinatra.
Oo baby baby!
I love Frank. As you can tell. So he deserved a tribute today as well.
Here's some of my favorites of his:
The Best Is Yet To Come
Moonlight Serenade
These Foolish Things
How Little It Matters (How Little We Know)
The Lady Is A Tramp
Here Goes
You Make Me Feel So Young
Autumn In New York
Fly Me To The Moon
Come Fly With Me
I Get A Kick Out Of You
My Funny Valentine
And there are tons more...but I could waste all day listing his songs. So I won't.
Too bad he was a die hard smoker and was in the Mafia.....
Eh...Oh well. His voice is divine.
So, Happy Birthday to two of my favorite men out there!
