These People

Daisy is older. She's Hispanic. Has lots of curly brown hair and is the best cook in the world. She calls me Baby Girl. Sometimes she sneaks rice and beans into my work purse because she knows I'm a starving college student and she wants to fatten me up before I head home. But she always tells me its our little secret or else the managers will make her cook for them too. On break she will hum to me and braid my hair making sure everything is OK and then kiss my cheek before we head back to work.

Richard is my coordinator. He's older too. But he doesn't have a family. He has blazing green eyes that seem to never focus on anything. He's from Germany. He thinks I'm special and calls me his supergirl because I'd do anything and everything for him. When work is slow he will just stand beside me and smile with me. We talk about life and God and family. He tells me everytime he sees the Elders on their bikes and thinks of me. He asks me how my days off are and if I got enough sleep. He gives me a hug every morning and squeezes me and tells me he loves me. He notices when I am sad and let's me takes breaks and sits with me. He's kind of eccentric. And sometimes he yelps in a weird voice when he is happy. He calls me Princess, too. He is the most caring man I've ever met.

Stephanie is a fellow College student. She's awkward and hilarious. We click. She tells me I've got swag and I tell her she looks like Katy Perry. We get lost when we do towel runs. She didn't really know Utah or Idaho existed and has never met anyone from there. She's from Chicago and she's obsessed with cats. I've only known her two weeks but we love each other. She calls me her Awkward Stormin' Mormon from Utah. Everytime we see each other, we laugh. What else can I say?

Sophie is actually Eun Ha. She's Korean. Sometimes we make Asian jokes together because I love Asians. She taught me how to write my name in Korean. We have dance parties together and go to Grocery Bingo. Sometimes we fall asleep on each others shoulders on the bus and she tells me the truth about when I'm falling for boys. She is a cutie. We cry together. She's one of the only people I've met who doesn't swear and who is always uplifting. It's refreshing and beautiful. I'm going to miss her.

Xin is from China (I love Asians). We have girls nights and give each other back massages and watch Roman Holiday. She met with the missionaries and me more times than I could count and almost got baptized. It didn't work out in the end but we still play every week. I was with her for her first wave. First water park. We watch fireworks at EPCOT with our arms around each other. We talk about boys and China and God. She taught me how to say "I love you" in Chinese. Wa Ai Nee. That's how you pronounce it at least. Everytime we part we say "Wa Ai Nee" to each other. She is so cute and sometimes buys me popcorn or cookies and tries to make me food all the time. I don't want to say bye to her.

Susanna is one of my roommates. She is incredibly beautiful. We tan together at Mickey's Retreat and just relax. Sometimes we wait up for each other to get home to talk about our day. She is an answer to my prayers. Her simplicity and goodness inspires me. She just says it how it is. I never tire of her presence. I'm so glad she's going to be in Rexburg with me.

London is a star. She sings like Ella Fitzgerald. I went to my first Kareoke bar with her. She asks me deep questions about life and really makes me think. Hard. She wears red red lipstick and can "shake it" like no one I know. Someday she's going to be famous, I know it. We recorded a rap song together about working at Disney. I love her spontaneity. Sometimes we cry together to. She reminds me I'm not perfect and it's OK when I slip up. "God still loves you" she tells me. And I believe her.

Natalie lives with me. She tells me stories about Mike Wazowski's arm falling off at work or how she's the hottest girl in Disneyworld and that's why all the men hit on her. We talk about family. And our Daddy's. We have photoshoots and she shows me what she makes for dinner every single night. We are blog buddies.

Bethan has a British accent. When we close Beach Haus we sweep the floor and sing showtunes together. She never stops smiling.

Jacquie somehow shows up whenever something goes wrong. She's always in the right place at the right time and gives me a hug. She gets it.

Heidi and Emilee include me.

Alvin stands up for my differences.

Keillan and Amy teach me about Australia and the world that is so foreign to me.

Will loves me for me. And that's it.

Gianfranco makes me want to be better.

Mike gives me strength.

The missionaries give me responsibility.

God gives me these people. I can never thank Him enough. They are my Florida family. I will forever hold them in my heart.

I didn't know people were so good.

Florida

Living here has been an amazing experience. I still have 3 weeks left, but...I can't even believe how much happens in 3 months. Yesterday, I had a photo shoot at the Polynesian Resort with my roommate Natalie.

This is her at her most beautiful...

But this is her at her best...

And this is what I do when I'm with her...

I laugh and laugh and laugh :) It's incredible how much love I have for my roommates. They have stuck through everything with me here. ALL of them.

The thing I have learned more than anything else while I have been here is how to love. Satan is real. Confusion is real. The world can be such a dark and dreary place. But, it's not. Because of my Savior. He has blessed me with a small portion of His love for the people here in Florida. I have been able to see people in a different light. People of all religions and races. Though they may be lost, they are God's children and when you show them that love you can see the desire in their eyes for more. After all, we are spiritual beings. Every day the adversary throws things in our path and we make a decision: Am I going to let Satan, The Father of All Lies, The Devil, The Whore of All the Earth; am I going to let him win? Or, am I going to choose the winning team, Choose to follow The Savior? We are here on earth in war. It is raging. No matter what continent you are on, or what experiences you've faced, the fact that the earth is at war will NOT change. We are the soldiers. But, we get to choose if we will win or loose. There is no luck. There is no chance. There is no circumstance. Truth and Righteousness will prevail. Apathy means destruction. Choose to fight. Choose to win. Choose Him. Wonderful. Counselor. The Mighty God. The Everlasting Father. The Prince of Peace.

This may be passionate and this may be bold. But it is truth. I know that God loves His children. He loves every person I've met here in Florida and back home and the vast majority of people I will never meet. He knows them and loves them and His way is Happiness. I know it and God knows it and I cannot deny it.

Choose to win. Choose Him.

For The Love...

I love Valentines Day. I never have boyfriends or anything special, I just love it because everyone is silly and fun and expressing their love for each other. I love love. Everyone does. So why not celebrate it? Last week I realized I probably wasn't going to do much for Valentines day because of work and I live with five girls, etc. So I bought myself some delicious dark Dove chocolates. Mm. My favorite thing about these chocolates are the cheesy sayings I get to read every time I eat one. Like "Share a secret", "Exercise your heart", "Remember your first crush", or, as it says above, "Do something spontaneous". I don't necessarily think Dove Inc. has the greatest advice. Like "The best love in life is chocolate". Talk about advertisement. But, when I ripped open my package of chocolates I decided that the first saying I read, I would do.

Do something spontaneous.

That has been my goal this week. The night I opened that chocolate I came home from work, threw a swimsuit in a bag, hopped on a bus and went to the Contemporary Resort and hot-tubbed with a babish 23 year-old. Valentines night I basically had a girls night and hopped on another bus and watched The Vow. What a beautiful story. Then yesterday I got lost at The Swan and Dolphin resort, watched two handsome men play the guitar, went on a ferry boat across a lake with fireworks above me, walked along a beach bare-footed, ate an ice cream cone with jazz playing in the background standing on a pavilion over-looking a lake. It was stunning. Romantic. And....I'd say pretty spontaneous. I need to have this goal more often... :)

A BYU-Idaho Christmas

Ever heard of Brain Stokes Mitchell? Anyone? Prince of Egypt: voice of Jethro? Well...I didn't know who he was until these past couple weeks. But, in Women's Choir we had the opportunity to put on a Christmas Program with him, the Men's choir, and the BYU-Idaho Orchestra! It was incredible. I love Christmas music and the spirit and love it brings.

This is a song we did with Brian Stokes Mitchell but with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir:

Friendly Beasts

Interesting, huh? That's definitely a unique song. But, we did Sleigh Ride and a bunch of classic too. It was such a fun experience. Poinsettias, lights, bells, Christmas trees, thousands of listeners, and the magic of music about Christ. Plus, we warmed up with some hot chocolate afterwards :) Priceless.

The Way You Look Tonight

You know those songs that make your heart melt away. Literally?

I call them my sentimental songs. I'm pretty sure everyone has them. Sometimes they make you cry and sometimes you can't stop smiling when you listen to them. But, they hold meaning, whatever it is. When I'm perfectly content, I sing them in the shower. Or when I'm feeling blue, I'll sing them and paint. When I've got lots of energy, I sing them and clean. Maybe pull out the vacuum or broom. Sometimes I'll give my little sister a kiss on the forehead and sing them to her when she is tired. Then sometimes, when I feel in love with the world around me, or in love with a person, I'll sing them as I dance. Music can do beautiful things. I wonder if my sentimental songs will ever loose their meaning. Or if they will pluck my heartstrings forever. It's a curious thing.

The Way You Look Tonight.

That's my sentimental song.

I could listen to it forever I think.

lovely,

with your smile so warm,

and your cheeks so soft,

there is nothing for me but to love you

and the way you look tonight...

mmm-mmm

mmm-mmm

mmm.

Gloomy Monday

It's a Gloomy Monday.
But it's beautiful.
The rain romance.
My glasses are Misty.
I'm helpless
Like: a kitten up a tree.
The clouds are crying.
But, I'm smiling.
Well...smirking.
Reading children's books.
Drinking hot chocolate at the Cocoa Bean.
Bluesy songs.
Still.
It's because of Stormy Weather.
And this Rainy Day.

Hello, scarf.

Girls Night Out

Authur Nicholas Taylor, my great-great-grandfather, built a quiant little cabin over 100 years ago. It is slightly falling apart. The bathroom is a little nasty. And I think bees might live in the walls. The chain on the porch swing is rusty, the bunk beds are ancietly rigid, and we even have a pump organ. Basically, it's old. But, oh how I love our little cabin.

Yesterday, eighteen girls came with me to my one room cabin and had a sleepover. Well, a "sleepover". We were awake untill seven in the morning!

The three bears trail hiking.
Flavored tootsie roll sucking.
Person, place, thing playing.
Mafia.
In the manner of the adverb.
Pysciatrist.
Scum.
First kiss stories on the tennis courts.
Star gazing.
Laughing.
Hair brushing.
Night gown wearing.
Secret telling.
Junk-food eating.
Twenty hours to spare.
A whole lot of love.

What else do you need?

Hakuna Matata

Care free? No worries? Mmmmhmmm.

I am happy.

I love old people.

Especially my Grandma Frampton.

And dancing at old folks homes.

I love the sun.

I love public speaking.

And graduating seminary.

My dad and grandma spoke at their seminary graduation!

I like following in their footsteps.

I love sliding down walrus statues.

And eating snocones on tailgates.

I love the art show!

Mostly cause I'm in it. WOO!

I love Hannah Banana.

I love my family.

A LOT. More than usual.

I love St. George trips with a bunch of girls.

And hot tub parties.

And chick flicks.

And other mysterious things that go on at girls parties...

I love this new self-serve ice cream CRAZE.

I love sentimental objects. Old keepsakes.

I think I'm being knighted tomorrow.

Watch out.

You And I

Let's get rich...

..and buy our parents' home in the South of France...

Let's get rich...

..and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance...

Let's get rich...

...and build our house on a mountain making everybody look like ants...

From way up there: You and I

You and I
